Night of worship with Darlene Zschech

Today is my last day of my mini vacation in B'ham. I had a great walk/run this morning at the Heardmont Park off of highway 119! Checked out of my hotel and now at Starbucks on 280 thinking about last night!

As the Hillsong team lead worship I was so moved by the Holy Spirit! He showed me how much the Father loves me and how much He wants me to be using all my gifts for His glory! I am not even sure what that looks like right now. I know some things for sure and some things I am still trying to figure out.

For sure: L.I.F.E ministry, wife, restaurant (for now), mother, grandmother,mother-in-law, prayer warrior to name a few!

Unsure: leader among women ministry, involvement in worship, teaching of younger women, life coaching to name a few!

I am asking for directions and I am sure He will direct my path!

Spring and Birmingham

I am on a mini retreat by myself! I left home yesterday around noon and got to Birmingham before traffic hit 280! I checked in my hotel and changed for a service at Highlands with Darlene Zschech. It was so good. She taught on God's presence and how to stay there! It was directed to worship leadesr but so good for me since I love to teach on God's presence and living life as a worshipper.

Today has been a little lazy.

I found a baseball park with some great walking paths off of Hwy 119! Had a great walk/run and then Milos! To cancel it!

Tonight Hillsong will lead worship at Highlands and I will be there. Now for a bath and a little shopping!

Points from last nights teaching.
Worship to exalt His worth. That's (worth-ship). His vastness is our security! There is nowhere we can go to escape His presence! Ps.139
His indwelling presence is the Holy Spirit working in us!
Feed on the word! If you are not in His word then you are on thin ice.
He's the manifest presence of God. Declare His presence, His goodness, His truth because He is here with us!
1. Beware of becoming familiar. Live in awareness of His presence
2. His presence carries a fragrance. The world wants authentic people and they can smell it! Be a sweet aroma. Make a sweet smelling offering!
3. His presence is great power - so declare it!

More this year!! 2011

Ok - so this year is the year of more.

More - post to this blog. I don't know why because I am sure no one reads it or cares.

More - of God. That is what I am hearing. That is what I want. MORE! More of His presence in my life. More of His favor and more ministry.

More - business. Randy and I have been wanting to sell our business for a long time. But now is the time to build the business so we have something to sale. We are praying for ways to build our business. Ideas for the restaurant anyone?

More - family. Liberty (our second grandchild) will be born in April 2011. I can't wait. I want to spend more time with all of my children this year. I hope this year we can plan a family vacation too.

And so much more.

Banana Pudding

This week I made two Banana Pudding - one for each of my small groups this semester.
This is a recipe from my friend Sabrina Poe. It is easy and delicious. Hope you enjoy and by the way, college kids LOVE banana pudding. Ate it over chocolate layer dessert.

3 box of vanilla pudding
3 cups of milk
8 oz sour cream
Large cool whip
5-6 bananas

Mix the Vanilla pudding together with milk until smooth. Add sour cream then half of the Cool Whip.
Slice bananas and stir into pudding mixture.

I used a trifle bowl and layered my pudding but you can use a 9X13 pan. I put whole wafers around the edge and crushed the ones I put in the middle. I had two layers and topped with the remaining cool whip. You can save some crumbs for the top. Enjoy.

Chicken with Mushrooms

Last week I cooked dinner for my family and Luke (Alison's boyfriend). I went searching for a new recipe and found this one. It was delicious with a few changes. I served it with angel hair pasta, fried okra (really I just saute it in olive oil), peas, and fresh tomatoes. It was so good. Hope you like it too.

Chicken with Mushrooms

3 cups of sliced mushrooms
4 skinless, boneless chicken breast
2 eggs, beaten
1 cup season bread crumbs
2 T butter
6 oz mozzarella cheese, sliced
3/4 cup chicken broth (plus a can of the cream of chicken and mushroom soup)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Brown the mushrooms in a little olive oil. One secret I learned from the movie "Julia & Julie" is don't crowd the mushrooms in the skillet if you want them to brown. Works.

Place half of the mushrooms in the bottom of a 9 X 13 pan. Dip the chicken breast in beaten eggs, then roll in bread crumbs. My bread crumbs were not seasoned so I just added some seasoning to them.

Brown chicken in skillet with melted butter. Place chicken on top of mushrooms and arrange remaining mushrooms on chicken. I mix the soup and chicken broth together and poured around the chicken.

Bake for 35-45 minutes and top with mozzarella the last 10 minutes.

Enjoy.

I am His and He is mine,
Janet

I am Waiting

Today is another day of waiting on the call from my oldest daughter Jessica, to let me know that this is it - the time for Gabriel to be born. Gabriel will be my first grandchild and I can't wait. Everyone tells me that no words can describe being a grandparent. I will let you know. Jessica and her husband Andrew live in Hamilton, AL with two foster girls, MacKenzie 3, Emma 18 months, three small dogs, Copper, Allie and Lela and Andrew's cousin, Kristina. Needless to say it is one full small house.

Waiting is not something we are naturally good at. Everything in this generation is instant so when we have to wait we become anxious, inpatient and hoping for an answer or breakthrough soon. I love that thought that "waiting on the Lord' indicates that I want His best and I am willing to wait. That does not mean to sit and do nothing. It means to do the next thing I am responsible for and wait on Him to show me the rest. So with that said I will spend this day washing clothes, paying some bills, ironing and wait on the call. God timing is always good. What will Gabriel birth date be?
